Lottery Statistics - deep analysis!
We had analyzed previous drawings from January 1, 2003 to December 31, 2007 using our new software specially built for this purpose. We had done this to help you eliminate improbable combinations thus increasing your chances of winning. The following analysis is based on 1821 Take Five drawings.

  • Odd and Even
    • Even numbers were drawn 49.1% of the time and odd numbers were drawn 50.1% of the time.
Drawings with only 1 even number: 16.6%, with only 1 odd number: 13.9%
Drawings with 2 even numbers: 31.6%, with 2 odd numbers: 32.6%
Drawings with 3 even numbers: 32.6%, with 3 odd numbers: 31.6%
Drawing with 4 even numbers: 13.9%, with 4 odd numbers: 16.6%
Drawings with all even numbers: 2.4%, with all odd numbers: 2.9%
Summary: Choosing all even or all odd numbers does not seem like a good idea. However, about 3% occurrence means that it does happen approximately once in a month. If you concentrate on this strategy you would have to deal only with 19-20 numbers instead of 39, greatly reducing the number of possible and probable combinations.

  • Sum

    • Numbers 50, 80, 105, 130, 160 is the sum of all five numbers in a drawing
Numbers 0, 20, 40 is the number of occurrences.
As you can see on the graph to the left the sum in many cases is between 80 and 130, occurring most of the time.

Summary: Calculate the sum of numbers of each combination to make sure it is within the range. This can greatly improve your odds. Don't even consider the combination if the sum is more than 160 or less than 50 because it is very rare.
  • Consecutive Numbers
    • Four consecutive numbers (like 1 2 3 4 5) never occurred.
      Three consecutive numbers (like 1 2 3 4 6) occurred .4% of the time.
      Two consecutive numbers (like 1 2 3 5 8) occurred 3.6% of the time.
      One consecutive number (like 1 2 4 6 8) occurred 38.2% of the time.
Drawings with no consecutive numbers: 57.8% of the time.
Summary: As described on our Tips Page drawings with consecutive numbers occur very rarely and this analysis just proved it. It is better to pick combinations with none or 1 consecutive numbers.

  • Number Distribution

    • As you can see, it is almost an even distribution with numbers 6 and 35 leading the way, been drawn about 260 times. The question is whether this trend will remain or numbers falling behind will catch up in the future drawings which means they would be drawn more frequently. We will analyze this next year to see if there will be any major differences.
      200, 220, 240, and 260 - number of occurrences
Summary: It is better not to have a favorite number as the probability of been drawn is the same for all of them. At any given drawing you will not get all the numbers that occurred most often or less often. It will be probably distributed evenly with some numbers in the top 10, some bottom 10 and some in the middle.

We might add more lottery analysis to this page later on so don't forget to check it once in a while.
